Factions & councils

The four enduring faction categories, their scenario-specific organizations, and what opening a council means.

Every session is shaped by four enduring faction categories: Authority, Coordination, Conviction, and Mobilization. The categories are timeless; their identities are not.

  • Authority: governs, maintains order, and preserves institutional continuity.
  • Coordination: organizes resources, expertise, and collective responses.
  • Conviction: shapes values, beliefs, and public opinion.
  • Mobilization: brings people together to defend or transform the existing order.

Each historical line comes complete with its four organizations, names and any acronyms, that belong to that particular world. Once a session opens, those identities are immutable.

Opening a council

Joining a faction is a deliberate act. You explicitly open its council, and doing so permanently locks your faction for the rest of the session, before any private information is revealed to you. There is no scouting every council and picking afterwards.

Council members gain access to approved faction-scoped intelligence: briefings and insights that belong to their organization alone. What is said inside a council stays inside it. Private faction content never enters public dispatches or public exports.
