The decision index

A proposed structure for linking player decisions to their simulated consequences.

A chronicle tells the story of one world. The decision index is a proposed structured view of how that world changed: the situation players faced, the options available, their votes and initiatives, and the consequences simulated by the engine.

The figure below illustrates the idea, not an actual session or an index already in use. A path not chosen can be recorded as an option, but not as an outcome that actually happened.

Why structure the decisions?

A common structure would let us compare player-shaped trajectories across completed sessions without confusing a narrative chronicle with research data. The index organizes decisions and simulated outcomes; it is not the model that will learn from them.

The long-term goal is to use permitted contributions to help train and evaluate a model designed to predict the future by measuring uchronia. Simulated consequences alone cannot show that it works; the model would still need to be tested against real-world events.
